D. Prohibitions
- I Cor. 14:34 keep silent in the assembly (cf. I Tim. 2:11-12)
NOTE: The statement that women are to remain silent in the church
should be understood in its context. Verse 23 begins: "If therefore
the whole church be come together into one place. . . " limiting the
prohibition to the whole gathered local assembly. No Scripture requires silence of women in groups other than the assembly.
